Squashed: Jumbled Thoughts on a Libya Intervention

squashed:

I read the news that the U.N. Had authorized airstrikes in Libya with a combination of dread an excitement. The dread was easy to place. This meant NATO intervention in an internal struggle in Libya. I’ll be happy to see Qaddafi go—but it’s not at all clear what comes next. Supplying freedom…

Squashed: Evidence

squashed:

Tim O’Brien wrote, “Evidence is not truth, it is merely evident.” It’s up to us to turn reports into a coherent story. If we’re good at it, we can perhaps guess the ending.

  • Gaddafi’s forces are in the process of choking the Libyan revolution
  • If Gaddafi is victorious, there will be atrocities.
  • The West never liked Gaddafi to begin with.

innominada asked: That's alright, I understand completely haha. Ugh, I really don't want to have to fight for classes while I am here. My schedule is whatever...they are all general ed courses because chem and math are full =/ I'm just hoping people don't pay their fees so I can get in.

That sucks. Well…what you could do is join CHP, they give you early enrollment. Other than that I dunno, good luck.

This image is a representation of the Sun’s magnetic field. The field lines are placed over a magnetogram of the Sun. Sunspots have magnetic field lines running between them. The Sun’s global magnetic field, while it has some characteristics of a dipole, is rather complicated. The level of complication and “hairiness” of the Sun’s magnetic field depends on where it is in the solar cycle. The magnetic field becomes more complicated during solar maximum when there are more active regions visible on the Sun.
